Overview

In March of 2023, CELFE presented at the Association for Education Finance and Policy on innovative ways states are addressing the workforce crisis. The session began with an overview of the compensation crisis in the field of early care and education, with presenters reviewing data on workforce wages and retention issues. Then, presenters from Texas, Massachusetts, Illinois, and Washington DC shared promising strategies to raise compensation via foundational grants and contracts and supplemental salary payments.
