Joyce Talavera is an education equity advocate with a multidisciplinary background in social safety net systems, focusing on the systemic racial and economic inequities present in local communities. Her work bridges policy research and data analysis with on-the-ground service, helping ensure that policy solutions are grounded in the lived realities of the people they aim to support. Joyce is committed to advancing an education ecosystem that reflects equitable investment and opportunity for all.

Prior to joining CELFE, Joyce worked as a policy consultant with nonprofit advocacy organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her work spanned issues from local food security initiatives to statewide labor policy. She is committed to building strategic approaches to comprehensive care in early childhood and beyond.

Joyce holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Data Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
