Policy Analyst
Nels Åkerson worked in various roles throughout his career. He taught in public schools for eight years across four states and with students from prekindergarten through twelfth grade. During part of his teaching career, he worked leading the Charlottesville City Schools sixth grade as the grade level lead. He also logged many miles knocking on doors as a community organizer.
Now, as a Policy Analyst, he is eager to bring together his skills in evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and project management to pursue equitable systemic solutions for children from birth to age five. Nels holds his undergraduate degree from Eastern Mennonite University and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in the social foundations of education from the University of Virginia.
